1570Viceroy Martín Enríquez de Almansa founds the city of Celaya (Mexico) in New Spain.
1693The city of Matanzas (Cuba) was founded under the name of San Carlos and San Severino de Matanzas.
1709Antonio Deza y Ulloa, Governor of Nueva Vizcaya founds the city of Chihuahua, Mexico, under the name of Real de Minas de San Francisco de Cuéllar.
1840Auguste Rodin, French sculptor, is born.
1936The first volunteers of the International Brigades arrive in Alicante. Another batch will arrive on 7 November.
1941Baptism of fire of the Blue Division in Novgorod.
1943The Blue Division is disbanded and most of them return home.
