1502A hurricane, foreseen in advance by Admiral Christopher Columbus, destroys the city of Santo Domingo.
1520Battle of Calacoaya: The Spanish-Aboriginal armies led by Hernán Cortés make a surprise attack on the Mexica village of Calacoaya, Cortés' second military action in his campaign for the Conquest of Mexico.
1886Work is completed on the Christopher Columbus necropolis in Havana.
