1535Carlos I of Spain granted Cholula, Mexico, the title of city, with the name of San Pedro de Cholula.
1553On the outskirts of Geneva (Switzerland), Calvinists burned alive the Aragonese theologian, physician and humanist Miguel Servet (Michael Servetus).
1795Spain and the United States signed the first Treaty of Friendship, Boundaries and Navigation.
1795The United States and Spain sign the "Pinckney Treaty", by which Spain cedes the forts and ports on the east bank of the Mississippi among others.
