1514King Fernando issues a royal decree authorising the marriage of Spaniards men and women to Indian men and women.
1723The German painter Godfrey Kneller dis in London. Born in Lübeck, he was appointed "Principal Painter in Ordinary" by Charles II in 1680 and painted all the Kings of England between the 17th and 18th centuries: Charles II, James II, William III and George I.
1755The Governor of Montevideo José Joaquín de Viana founds the city of Maldonado (Uruguay) in the Banda Oriental of the viceroyalty of Peru.
