1066The Franco-Norman army of Duke William II of Normandy clashed with the Anglo-Saxon army of King Harold II. The result was a decisive victory for the Normans starting the Norman conquest of England.
1550Andrés López de Galarza founds the town of Ibagué (Colombia) in the New Kingdom of Granada.
1658The Portuguese army lifts the siege of Badajoz, just four months after it began. It left behind hundreds of dead from the fighting, heat and disease, without any results. At midday, Luis de Haro entered Badajoz with the relief army.
1784Fernando VII, the last representative of absolutism, is born in San Lorenzo de El Escorial, He reigned over Spain from March to May 1808 and, from December 1813 until his death in 1833.
