1553The French pirate Jacques de Sores attacks the village of Havana on Isla Juana (now Cuba).
1642The Battle of Barcelona, part of the Reapers' War, ends with the Spanish fleet retreating to Majorca for repairs.
1808Peninsula War: Napoleon Bonaparte illegaly cedes the kingdoms of Spain and the Indies to his brother Joseph.
1810In Colombia, Cali shouts for independence. starting the treaty of the Friendly Cities of Valle del Cauca which brought together Cali, Cartago, Toro, Buga, Anserma and Caloto.
1898Spanish-American War: On leaving the bay of Santiago de Cuba, the US Navy sink the six-ship fleet commanded by Admiral Pascual Cervera.
1952The United States approves the Constitution of Puerto Rico.
